Step inside a one-of-a-kind collection that celebrates the history, artistry, and innovation of music technology. At the Museum of Music Technology, you’ll encounter some of the rarest and most elusive instruments ever made—vintage synthesizers, tape-based and electromechanical keyboards, prototype gear, and much more.

Explore a vast array of guitar amplifiers—both tube and solid state—alongside effects units, rare guitars and basses (many with legendary provenance), studio-grade recording equipment, drum machines, multi-track recorders, and vintage hi-fi systems.

You’ll come face-to-face with Keith Emerson’s iconic Moog modular synthesizer, hear the sounds of his Hammond organs and discover instruments and gear once owned by music legends like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, The Who, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, and many more.

This is not your typical museum. We believe instruments are meant to be played and experienced—not sealed behind glass. Many of the pieces in our collection are still in use, and every visitor gets up-close access to the gear that shaped music history.

To preserve this immersive experience, access is available by guided tour only. Our docents will spend several hours with you, sharing the stories, sounds, and surprises behind the gear in our collection. You’ll hear select pieces demonstrated live and learn what makes them special . . . . and we encourage you to take photos and videos along the way!

We invite you to come see—and hear—the collection for yourself!

NOTE: No general admission or self-guided visits are available. ALL TOURS ARE GUIDED AND MUST BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE!

Currently, tours are only available on Mondays and Fridays. We are actively working toward being able to offer weekend timeslots.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

ACCESSIBILITY: Our tours are ~2.5 hours long and involve walking, standing for extended periods of time, and climbing stairs. If you have special accessibility needs, please contact us to discuss accomodations before booking.

LARGE GROUPS: To keep things personal and make sure everyone has a chance to see the instruments up close, our standard tour is limited to 10 people per group. If you have a larger group, please contact us to discuss options. If you are an educator looking to bring a group of students, please reach out to us regarding school group tours.

CHILDREN: Our tours are long and full of content that is almost guaranteed to bore young children. Since we have found that bored children can become a distraction and ruin the tour experience for both their parents and other guests, we do not recommend this tour for children younger than 12.
